Charities
Continental Building Systems Charities began in 2001 as the employees and friends of Continental Building Systems created a lasting tribute to the son of a fellow employee. In 2001 The Tyler Ludwig Scholarship was created and today it continues to serve young people interested in education in a construction related field. The scholarship is awarded through the Builder’s Exchange Foundation and currently awards the successful student with a $1,000 scholarship and is renewable each year as long as the student maintains certain criteria.

In 2004, Continental Building Systems Charities wanted to expand its charitable focus and created a separate account that is housed at The Columbus Foundation. An employee-based committee was established to focus the funds purpose, direct and create additional fundraising activities, review petitions for funds, monitor investing of the fund and provide oversight.
The primary purpose of this fund is to provide for the care and education of our youth. With this in mind, we have established a scholarship fund and have awarded a $1,000 scholarship each year from 2006 to 2010. Our 2011 recipient is Zach Zins from Powell, OH and he will be attending The Ohio State University studying chemical engineering and then on to medical school. Our 2010 recipient is Kayleigh Scott from Millersport, OH who is studying to become an art teacher at Muskingum University and our 2009 recipient is Monika Wanis from Blacklick, Ohio who is attending The Ohio State University. In 2008 our scholarship was awarded to Steven Sachs from Pittsburgh who attends the University of Pittsburgh and is studying Civil Engineering and our 2007 recipient is Stephanie Baker from Columbus who is attending Cedarville University. The student who received our first scholarship in 2006 was Stephen Sabo from Pittsburgh and he attended the University of Pennsylvania. This scholarship is renewable for four years as long as the student meets certain criteria. We accept scholarship applications from graduating high school seniors from the Central Ohio, Greater Pittsburgh and Cleveland, OH areas. As our fund grows, our hopes are that we will be able to increase the amount of the scholarship awarded. To apply for this scholarship, please click this link.
Along with our annual scholarship award, we make an annual gift from the CBS Charities fund. Past recipients have included:

Another aspect of this fund is to allow employees of Continental Building Systems to petition for a contribution to a charity that they are involved in. If the petition is accepted, the fund will match employee contributions made to that specific charity.
