Awards & Accomplishments

Continental Building Systems is proud to have received 25 Builders Exchange (BX) Safety Awards, with at least one award every year during the award program’s 13 year history.

Two types of awards are available through the BX - the Safety Innovation Award and the Safety Achievement Award.

BX Innovation Awards

Continental is extremely proud to be the only contractor to ever receive multiple Safety Innovation Awards in numerous years, a feat we have accomplished three times - with five awards in 2008, two awards in 2007 and another two awards in 2006.

The Innovation Awards recognize unique ideas that directly impact safety and health on construction sites.

Continental Building Systems has received a total of 14 Innovation Awards for practical solutions to safety hazards, including:

  • a roof warning line stanchion system
  • a concrete blanket roller
  • a ladder tie-off device
  • a fall protection anchorage point
  • a floor hole plug
  • a magnetic extension cord caddy
  • a ladder bracket base
  • and more!

BX Achievement Awards

CBS has earned 11 BX Safety Achievement Awards for outstanding safety performance and impressive OSHA incidence rates.

Continental’s lost-workday rates (also known as the OSHA DART rate for Days Away, Restricted or Transferred) consistently rank well below the national average for general contractors - with a rate over the past five years of 85% below the industry average.

Our workers’ compensation Experience Modification Rating (EMR) is also excellent, with an average EMR of 0.50 for the past decade.

Safety Council Awards

The Safety Council of Greater Columbus has honored Continental Building Systems with numerous awards including:

  • The 100% Award for achieving zero lost-workdays
  • The Group Award for having the lowest incident rate for general contractors
  • The Special Award for working over 500,000 hours and at least six months without a lost-time incident
