Continental Building Systems has been accepted into OSHA’s premier Safety and Health Recognition Program - as a VPP Star Company. VPP is OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program and CBS is the first and only company in the State of Ohio to receive the VPP Star designation through the Columbus OSHA Office and nationwide only 28 General Contractors have presently received this honor.
VPP certification recognizes employers whose occupational safety and health programs are exemplary and meet specific guidelines, which include: management commitment, employee involvement, work site analysis, hazard prevention and control, and safety and health training. A testament to CBS’s exemplary safety standards is the fact that our injury and illness rate are between 85% and 100% below the national average depending on which rate you are referencing.
At CBS, Safety is our #1 Core Value. The VPP recognition from OSHA just verifies how sincerely internalized we have made safety; it is not an afterthought, but as our company president states below … “it is a matter of the heart.”
“Our participation in OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program is just that - Voluntary. We have chosen this course because it is the next logical step in our journey to provide the safest work environment possible for all project participants, including CBS employees, subcontractors, vendors and visitors. It is not just another program - it is the culture we have chosen for CBS projects and it is a matter of the heart.”
